Streets of San Francisco

Wednesday I got up early and threaded my way through the streets of downtown San Francisco: past City Hall and the War Memorial Opera House, stopping for a hot dog in a park, pausing again at a library book sale, selecting an orange from the Farmer’s market, slowly nosing towards the Ferry Building for a ride across the bay to my childhood weekend home, Sausalito.  As I walked I thought about how unplugged I’ve been on this entire trip.  I left my laptop at home (using the computers of others to blog), rarely put my iPod on, even leaving my books closed.  I much prefer watching the scenery pass by, observing people around me, listening to the sounds of the city, absorbing conversations but not taking note of specific words, letting the hum of the city be my soundtrack.  I have spent a lot of time in my own headspace, less thinking and more being in the now.  While I can’t provide you with the soundtrack, this is the film reel from that walk:
